The Black Seeds are pleased to announce that their fourth studio album ‘Solid Ground’ will be released in New Zealand on 11 August 2008.
After spending the summer months writing and work-shopping in locations around Wellington, the new 13-track album has once again been recorded with Dr Lee Prebble at The Surgery studio in Wellington.
Solid Ground is the follow-up to The Black Seeds’ third album Into The Dojo, which spent 5 weeks at #1, reached well over double-platinum sales in New Zealand, and garnered critical acclaim and strong airplay both at home and in Europe.
Joined for the first time on an album by trumpet player Andrew Christiansen and keyboardist Nigel Patterson, Solid Ground has come on the back of two years of extensive New Zealand and international live touring, resulting in a constantly evolving, eight-member creative process.
The heavy-hitting first single ‘Slingshot’ will be released to radio this week and available for digital download from 14 July. The video for the single, directed by Wellington company ‘Mofresh’, will be released to NZ Music TV on 7 July.
Solid Ground will be released simultaneously in Europe through German-based label Sonar Kollektiv. The Black Seeds will complete a 23-show European tour in July/August, including performances at some of Europe’s biggest festivals, before returning to New Zealand for an album release tour in September.
